Green Mountain School P.T.S.A
“Our mission is to inspire the parents and community of Green Mountain School District to make a difference in our children’s education through financial generosity and volunteer commitment.”
Green Mountain’s PTA is a gathering of parents committed to providing interesting activities to supplement our children’s education. Our biggest events are the book fairs, Halloween Carnival concession stand, and Christmas Wishes. The Scholastic Book Fair provides a great opportunity for students to purchase quality books and educational materials at reasonable prices, as well as earning free books and materials for our new library. In December, our organization holds the Christmas Wishes Gift Shop, where students can purchase reasonably priced gifts for their family and friends. The P.T.S.A. also provides refreshments for events throughout the year, and purchases educational equipment.
We are always happy to see new faces. Whether you have ideas, input, or time to volunteer, come to a meeting and help support our school!

A Message From Our President
Resolve to Become More Involved in Your Child’s Education This Year
The New Year is a time to reflect upon what we have accomplished in
the past and set goals for the future.
This is an excellent time to consider becoming more involved
in your child’s education.
For more than 30 years, studies have shown a convincing relationship
between parent involvement and improved academic achievement among
students of all ages.
When parents are involved in their children’s education, students
are more likely to earn higher grades, graduate and pursue higher
education. They also
have increased motivation and higher self-esteem.
Besides the obvious channel of joining the PTSA - Green Mountain
School offers parents many ways to become more involved in their
child’s education. Here
are just a few:
·
Contact your child’s teacher about volunteering in their classroom
or becoming a Room Parent.
Parental assistance is always appreciated.
·
Volunteer for a PTSA Art Day – they are always a lot of fun and a
great way to get to know your child’s peers.
·
Pick a date to have lunch with your child at school – parents are
always welcome and you can call the school office to set it up and
order lunch.
·
Why not attend a Spirit/Awards Assembly?
They are usually held on the last Friday of each month at
·
Consider shadowing your child for the PTSA sponsored “Shadow Day”.
You can read more about this event in the article on the next
page.
Your children will only be young once.
Seize this opportunity to show them you care about their
education by getting involved and connected at school.
It is one of the best ways to say you care for and love them.
Don’t delay, get involved today!

Shadow
Day 2010 -
Tuesday, February 2nd
The PTSA is once again sponsoring Shadow Day this year. In
observance of Groundhog Day, parents or
guardians are invited to "shadow" their child during one of two half-day
sessions. Come see what a typical school day is like for your
So exactly what is a room parent?
Room parents act as the liaison between the teacher and parent,
assisting when needed. For
example, setting up a phone tree for your child’s class, or contacting
parents to share information or collect items for classroom projects.

Did you know that the PTSA receives 10 cents a pound for every pound of
clothing (or cloth goods, shoes, purses, hats) donated?
Please keep ARC in mind when you’re cleaning out your closets and
drawers…the drop box is next to the office.
Your donations and support is appreciated!
Due to scheduling conflicts, the PTSA General Membership meetings will
be moved to the first Friday of every
month for the remainder of the school year. The only exception
will be in April as we will be on Spring Break
at that time. April's meeting will remain on the third Friday of
the month. All PTSA meetings are held in the school library and
