Green Mountain Library Nook
Welcome to Green Mountain’s Library web page. It's a great place to
investigate what might be behind that book cover. Enjoy
researching Internet sites, reading book reviews and simply roaming for
a “new” read
What’s Happenin’ in our Library?
Mrs. Combs scans a book into our new
system.
It’s said that “every cloud has a silver lining”
and while we celebrate our silver lining we are pondering what to do
with the cloud. Because of the many generous donations of both
books and funds to purchase books, our library is filling up.
There are still a few books we would like to purchase, but we need
shelving! To make room for the books we have and allow for future
growth, we are in need of 3 more bookcases, at $250 each, plus shipping.
And, of course, more shelves also means more bookends!
So what’s
a library to do? Thank goodness, our library can count on their
friends to help. Currently the Leadership group is helping the
Library Advisory Board by putting on “Licorice Fridays”. Licorice
will be for sale every Friday at lunch time, 3 pieces for 25 cents.
The goal is for the students to raise enough money to purchase one of
the bookcases. In just two
weeks the licorice sale has already raised $48! The PTSA
will be approached at their next meeting about helping out, and the
Eighth Grade Class is going to purchase the needed bookends. We are
also looking to the community. If you know of someone who would
like to sponsor all or part of a bookcase just let us know.
Speaking
of Library Advisory Board, we are looking for 2-3 community members
interested in joining our group. Since we do not have a Library
Media Specialist the Library Advisory Board helps make the decisions
about programs to sponsor, creates book purchase wish lists and other
things to make the library fun and useful for our students. We
only meet 3-4 times during the school year so it does not require a lot
of time to be involved. If you are interested contact the school
office or Ms. Zumstein.
Thank you
to all who contribute to our library in so many different ways.
And to think, you can help our library by eating licorice! How
sweet!!
Anyone wanting to help out can contact the library at gmsbooks@esd112.wednet.edu or call and leave a message and Mrs.Combs will get back to you as soon as possible.
