Week  37

Kindergarten Class
Teacher: Mrs. Combs

This week’s highlights

*   This week we had a clock, a horse, a spy scope and a checkers game in our sharing basket.

*   We have been working very hard on writing and publishing stories.  Each of the students should come home next week with the book they have written.

*   We have finished our unit on subtraction in Math and next week will take out test.

*   We had a wonderful time on our field trip.  Students made some very creative wood and paper sculptures and enjoyed hiking and playing in the playground and tree fort.  We measured a giant tree, it took 10 kids to reach around it and we saw lots of snails, slugs and other critters.

Thank you to Lori Pearce, Misty Doyle, Daniel Brown, Robin White, Brandie Johnson, Sherry Hansen, Roni  Normine, Ute Petersen and  Yolanda Morales for attending as parent helpers.

 Continue the learning at home
I am sending home a copy of the scoring for your child’s Readiness test.  Areas marked as “?” will need to be watched in the coming year.  Areas with a “-“ are things that will require additional assistance at home over the summer.  If you have any questions or would like to see your child’s actual test please let me know by phone, email or a note in their folder.

Handwriting books came home this week.  All that is left is review activities that your child can finish at home.

I am also sending home the extra activities from our math book and the chapters that we did not get to finish.

 Coming up next week
*   Friday is Field Day, please dress your child to be running and playing games in the field.  Students not in suitable shoes may have to sit out some of the activities.
*   We will be finishing up our end of the year testing, please make sure your child is at school everyday.

 Things to Note

*   Permission slips are coming home today for the All School Swim Party at the Jim Parsley Center in Vancouver. We will be needing chaperones, (especially males) to help the kids with swim suits.

Next week’s Snack green: Kevin White

Next week’s Snack yellow: Connor Monks
