5th grade math:
In math class this group has been working on
multiplication tables.
We have also been learning how to compute 2 digit x 2
digit math problems.
In the next couple of days we will begin our Math Pilot.
The 5th graders will be using a math program
call Envision.
6th grade math:
In math class this group has been working on graphing
data. They have also
been brushing up on their multiplication tables and solving
multi-digit multiplication problems.
Science: In
science we recently finished our unit on Planetary Science.
Our unit quiz will be later this week.
Our next science unit is called Diversity of Life.
We will be learning about single cell and multi cell
organisms. We will
be receiving class science pets later in the trimester.
Social Studies:
We are working on regional Native American tribes.
The students are creating informational posters about
their region as a group.
They will be presenting their posters to the class.
Reading:
Each Monday students receive a new list of vocabulary
words. They have an
assignment related to these words which is due every Friday.
In addition there is pre spelling test on Thursday and a
final spelling test on Friday.
Each score of 14 or higher receives a “Victorious
Vocabulary” ribbon for our wall.
We have been reading a variety of stories in our LA book.
We focus on themes, story elements and writers purpose.
PE: We are learning
the game of basketball.
We run drills and play short games. |

School
Update: As of
January the class has raised a little over $400.
We have received corporate sponsors in the amount $300,
so we are progressing toward our goal.
We will be starting our next fundraiser in the next
couple of weeks. We
will be selling flower bulbs.
These can be ordered from an individual student or on
line. If you order
on line the bulbs will be sent directly to your house.

* Reading
logs are due every week on Monday or Tuesday.
* 5th
& 6th graders are now subject to the late work
policy. Please
review this with your student.
* Those of
you with internet access, don’t forget to check the grade book
to see how your student is doing.
* Missing
assignment lists will begin coming home every Friday.
